Department of Industrial Chemistry was launched in 2013 E.C. along with other academic majors in the College of Natural and Computational Science. The Department started its task by enrolling 36 students and two instructors in the academic year. Currently, in the Department, 60 students are attending their study in the regular program.

The curriculum in the Industrial Chemistry program has been prepared to produce graduates who will be productive throughout their careers in a wide range of industrial, professional, and academic environments and create capable Industrial Chemists who can undertake optimization of processes, examine and change the Chemistry of the process to maximize the efficiency of industrial production.

The undergraduate program introduces students (Industrial Chemists) who can develop new industrial products and raw materials and produce competent personnel who can manage and run the growing small-scale industries in Ethiopia.

The Department has a lot of roles in accordance with the vision and mission of Wachemo University in establishing quality education and taking up scientific research programs in the university. Therefore, I am excited to represent this forthcoming Department, which is dedicated to providing quality education, producing qualified manpower, conducting problem-solving research, and providing community services. The program aims to produce Industrial Chemists who work efficiently and competently in the national and international markets.
