Welcome to Wachemo University!

It is with great pride and honor that I welcome you to Wachemo University (WCU), one of Ethiopia’s public higher education institutions. Since its establishment in 2004 E.C. Wachemo University has made remarkable strides in expanding access to quality higher education and contributing to the socio-economic development of the country. Today, it has categorized under a comprehensive university with the mandate of Teaching-learning, Research, Technology Transfer, and Community Services. We proudly host more than 22,000 students enrolled in different undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered through seven colleges and two schools. Our academic programs are built on a commitment to excellence, innovation, and relevance, guided by university focus areas, national development priorities and global academic standards.

Wachemo university operates across three campuses and eight Continuous Education Centers making our academic services widely accessible to communities across the region. This multi-campus system enables us to reach more learners and foster regional integration and development. In addition to our teaching and learning endeavors, WCU is also a vibrant center for research and innovation. We have established seven Research and Technology Transfer Centers, which serve as platforms for addressing local and national challenges through knowledge generation, applied research, and community engagement.
